On the High Seas with Attitude

Tuesday, July 9, 2013: Monday evening we set sail from the port of Messina, Sicily toward Greece. From our room balcony we saw nothing but blue sky and sea, not a single boat or ship after we lost view of the Italian coastline at the toe of the boot. After dusk we enjoyed a starry sky with a few shooting stars to entertain us.
Monday had been a disappointment from the standpoint of my foiled plan to use the internet on my phone or Carol's Android tablet to post on the blog. Since Tuesday would be a day at sea, I resolved to overcome this obstacle. Sadly, this was not to be.  We kept thinking it was a problem on our end, that we must be doing something wrong.  In fact, the problem was that Royal Caribbean's internet service was not compatible with Google Chrome, which was the only browser software we had!  Also, the desktop computers in the internet cafe were so slow, that it quickly ate up minutes just trying to download email or view webpages, so we abandoned the whole idea. That is why we have such high hopes for Crete....
We didn't do much else on Tuesday except attend a presentation about Piraeus/Athens, Greece (our next stop) and Kusadasi/Ephesus, Turkey.  Mostly, we lounged, ate and drank.  Both Carol and I started collecting the branded plastic pilsner-like stemware given out each time you order drink of the day.  My goal is to bring home a set of 8. Cheers!
ps: Goal accomplished!
