One month to go! July 3rd will be here soon and I plan to be ready for what is sure to be another grand adventure with my friend and most excellent travel companion Carol W.
We did Sumatra together in '08 (see tuktuktravels.blogspot.com) for the wedding of Aron and Hapny; then Bali in 2011 (see howeadventures.blogspot.com) to enjoy the island with Aron, Hapny and then 2 year old Sofie, my granddaughter!
This time, the venue is Europe, specifically the Mediterranean region. Once again, our tour hosts are Aron, Hapny and now 4 year old Sofie, who is getting to be quite the world traveler. This is all Aron's idea and he has handled all the arrangements and details from their home base in Indonesia's eastern most province of Papua.
Here's the itinerary starting July 3rd:
BNA to JFK; then off to Rome where we meet up with Aron and family. Three days in Rome seeing the sights, then board the cruise ship on the evening of July 7. Sail to ports at Sicily, Athens, and Ephasus (Turkey). At each stop we spend a day sightseeing. The final port of call for us is Crete where we leave the cruise ship and spend 3 or 4 days in a villa on a hilltop overlooking the sea. (Aaaahhhhh....) With a rental car, we explore the island's offerings.
Then we fly from Crete to Germany where we spend a night in a castle converted to hotel. The morning of the 17th, we return to the good ol' U.S. of A. Aron, Hapny and Sofie fly to the states on a different airline and plan to stay with me in Nashville until the first week of August.
I will post daily (I hope) journal entries and photos on this blog site and I invite you to check our progress and enjoy the experience with us!
